Abstract

The pump delivering, e.g. high temp., highly corrosive liquids, consists of a closed tank under a low pressure, a supply line which leads from tank to supply, (the inlet opening of this supply line is submerged in the liquid to be pumped). The supply line is further so arranged that not all the fluid in tank can flow back through it under gravity. The pump further consists of an outlet line with an outlet opening which the liquid in the tank can flow under gravity. As the outlet pipe forms a U, a predetermined amout of liquid remains in the outlet. The suction required to draw this liquid back into the tank is larger than the suction which is required to draw liquid through the inlet pipe.
