Abstract
424,755. Cracking nuts. BRANDA, B., 4, Boulevard Pons, Marseille, France. July 9, 1934, No. 20065. [Class 59] The shells of monkey nuts are removed from the kernels by reciprocating a series of angle irons 15, Fig. 5, over a perforated tray 6 provided with half round ribs 7. A box 10, Fig. 3, with hopper 12 is supported on rollers 20 and oscillated by an eccentric 24. The open bottom of the box is provided with the adjustable V-shaped bars 15. The perforated tray 6 slides in guides in the built up base of the machine and is provided with the half round bars 7 opposing the bars 15. The nuts are passed through a sieve 13 in the hopper 12 and fill the box 10. The oscillations of the box cause the nuts to be squeezed and rolled between the bars 15 and the ribs and holes in the tray 6, the kernels and broken shell falling into an inclined tray 19 for discharge through an outlet 18<1> to a wind channel 26.
