Abstract

424,402. Bedsteads; spring mountings. WOOR, D. J., 35, Tower Road, Strawberry Hill, Twickenham, Middlesex. Sept. 5, 1934, No. 25502. [Class 52 (ii)] A resilient supporting device for mattresses comprises an element including upper and lower clamping members 2, 3, with a spring 1 secured between them, adapted to be fixedly or detachably secured between the bedstead frame at mattress frame. The device may comprise a helical spring 1 mounted between a pair of plates 2, 3, Fig. 2, the upper plate being formed with a depending flange 5 bent to form a channel 6 to receive the web of the mattress frame, and the lower plate being formed with a bent over part 9 and a depending flange 10 to fit the bedstead frame. Sharp projections 11 may be formed in the upper plate to engage the mattress frame. Other means of securing the plates to the mattress and bed frames, such as screws or bolts, may be used. Bent wire frames or brackets may be used instead of the plates 2, 3. The spring may be of C-shape.
