Abstract
423,066. Trap nests. BERGEN, H. H. VAN, 37A, Heyde L., Venray, Holland. Jan. 11, 1934, No. 1130. Convention date, Jan. 14, 1933. [Class 5 (ii)] A device for controlling the entrance and exit of birds to and from a poultry nest box comprises a pivoted door 14, Fig. 3, provided with a rearward extension 15 so arranged that a hen, when entering the nest, presses the rearward extension and thereby begins to close the door, and when leaving the nest, presses the door and begins to open it, the door also having a counterweight 16 which, when the door is moved initially by the hen pressing it or the extension, is moved from one side of the pivotal axis 7 of the door to the other side to complete the opening or closing movement. Instead of or in addition to a counterweight 16 in the form of a board as shown in Fig. 3, closed tubes 20 provided with freely moving balls 22, Fig. 5, may be provided. The door 14 and rearward extension 15 each comprise a grid of rods mounted on the shaft 7.
