Abstract
204,869. Ferguson, J. H. Sept. 13, 1922. Trap nests. - A wooden sliding door 5 adapted to cover the entrance 3 to the nest moves in vertical guides 8 provided with notches 9 to support the door at various heights, the door having rigid with it a tripping member 10, so that the bird or other animal on entering the nest moves the member 10 and lifts the door 5 to the right off the notches 9 so that the entrance is closed. When it is not desired to use the trap device with the nest, the door 5 may he raised so as to rest on the member 11. In a modification, Fig. 4, the member 10 is hinged to the door 5 so that after a small angular movement the edge of the member 10 abuts against the bottom of the door 5 and then acts as in the form shown in Fig. 2. In a further modification the trap device is stamped out of sheet metal and is fixed at each side to the nest by a hinge pin so that by withdrawing one hinge pin the trap device may be swung about the other pin for inspection purposes.
