Abstract

213,806. Smith, J. June 6, 1923. Animal traps.-A wired cage 1 upon a base 15 has open ends 2 adapted to be closed by doors 5 and 6. The bait is placed upon a plate 3 moving in a guide 4 and attached to a lever 7 pivoted at 9, the upper end of the lever being adjacent the door 5 in its raised position. Removal of the bait causes the lever 7 to rock counter-clockwise so that its upper end rocks the door 4 outwards and downwards to close the entrance, and as it closes the door 5 strikes the end 17 of a sliding rod 8 and moves the rod to the right so that the other end swings the door 6 to close the other entrance. In closing, each door strikes a locking plate 11, 12 pivoted so that the plate is rocked through about 90‹ whereupon the door passes over the arm 11, the plate then being swung back to normal position by the heavier arm 12. Handles 18 are provided on the outside of the doors and there are inclines 19 to the floor.
