Abstract
346,098. Rearing-appliances. MILNE, T., Kellas Poultry Farm, Kingennie, Angus. Feb. 17, 1930, No. 5192. [Class 5 (ii).] A brooder comprises a living chamber B situated above a lamp chamber A and provided with an inverted U-shaped radiating pipe E opening at each end into the lamp chamber, a lamp being arranged below one end of the pipe. Air is admitted to the chamber B through a flat pipe F opening to the outer air and extending along the roof of the lamp-chamber until it is bent upwards and opens into the living chamber immediately below the pipe E. The roof of the lamp chamber is iron-lined. A narrow slit K to act as an air outlet is made just under the roof of the chamber B and auxiliary outlets M are formed in the roof, these being opened or closed by movement of the roof. The chamber B has a curtain-covered doorway J opening into a run C having a wire netting floor P below which is a removable tray D for droppings. Troughs R, R1 are situated on the sides and the front of the run.
