Abstract

378,290. Poultry houses. HOWIE, J. M., Oakholme, Dunlop, Ayrshire. Dec. 1, 1931, No. 33251. [Class 5 (ii).] A poultry house comprises slats or roosting members arranged above nests, air openings being provided between the slats or roosting members and the nests, so as to admit air below the slats or roosting members direct from outside the house. A main door leads into a central passage 26 of the poultry house. On each side of the passage are provided nest boxes 10, 11, feeding and drinking troughs 6, 7, 14, 15, 15a, slatted floors 2, 3, droppings boards 19, 19a, and windows 28, 29. Air may pass to the slatted floors 2, 3 through hinged screens 20 protected by hinged windboards 21, 22. A poultry door 27 is provided and the house is mounted on skids 24, 25 or wheels. A windowventilator 31 is mounted in wedge-shaped brackets at the rear of the house, a wedge block 33 being used to keep it closed. Doors 16, 17 provided access to the troughs 14, 15, 15a from outside at 35, the poultry being sheltered by the overhanging parts of the house. The droppings boards 19, 19a may be removed from the central passage or from outside the house. The slatted floors, constructed sectionally, are removable. The slats may be replaced by woven wire floors and the ends of the house, in addition to the sides, may be cut away to provide ventilation under the roosting members
