422,158. Cathode-ray tubes. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., Electra House, Victoria Embankment, London. (Assignees of lams, H. A. ; 22, Merrick Villa, Collingswood, New Jersey, U.S.A.) April 3, 1934, No. 10109. Convention date, March 30, 1933. [Class 39 (i)] A mosaic screen scanned by a cathode-ray in a television transmitter &c., and comprising an insulating sheet carrying on the surface exposed to the ray a large number of photo-sensitized conductive elements spaced and insulated from each other, is made by applying a continuous conductive layer to the insulating sheet and ruling with a sharpedged instrument two inclined sets of parallel grooves through the layer to leave parallel rows of spaced conductive parallelograms. A mica sheet 32, Figs. 3 and 4, À001 inches thick, is provided on its back with a continuous platinum coating 36, and on its front with a continuous silver coating À0001 inches thick. Parallel grooves in two sets at right angles are then ruled through the silver coating and slightly into the sheet 32 as shown to leave silver square 34<a> separated by leakage paths greater than the width of the gap between the squares. The squares are photosensitized and an image to be transmitted is projected on to them, image currents being led off from the coating 36.
