Abstract
In the manufacture of positively charged aqueous emulsions, the substance to be emulsified, the aqueous solution of an organic protective colloid, and the aqueous solution of an electrolyte which confers the positive charge are run simultaneously from separate sources into a homogenizing apparatus in the proportions which are required in the product. Examples describe the preparation of emulsions of hard paraffin, coco-nut oil, olive oil, and benzol respectively. Specified protective colloids are glue, gelatine, and dimethylcellulose. Specified electrolytes are formic acid, aluminium formate, hydrochloric acid and aluminium sulphate.
