[Classes 142 (i), 142 (ii), and 142 (iii)] In circular looms such as are described in Specifications 285,435, [Class 142 (ii)], and 396,757 wherein a warp-feeler on the front of the shuttle is adapted to be pressed back to stop the loom in the event of jammed warps, means is provided to stop the loom on weft failure, which comprises a weft-feeler normally held inoperative by the weft, but adapted to be urged into the warp threads on weft failure and thereby cause a warp jam. The shuttles may be stationary. The weft-feeler 24, Figs. 1 and 10, has a hook 28 normally engaged by the weft and is urged by the warps to extend further from the rear of the shuttle. When the weft fails, the feeler extends far enough to prevent shedding. The warp-feeler 16 of the succeeding shuttle 31 is thereby pushed back and effects the stoppage of the loom through clutch members 34, 35 in the manner described in Specification 396,758. The feeler is flexible and may move a limited distance in a tube 21 on the shuttle, or it may comprise a hair-pin loop that is prevented from leaving the shuttle by a fine chain or cord.
