Abstract
419,842. Linkwork. BABEL, R. A., 12, Place des FÛtes, Clichy, Seine, France. Oct. 21, 1933, No. 29221. Convention date, Sept. 4. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, April 23, 1934.] [Class 80 (iii).] Means for converting the semi-rotary motion of a shaft 76 to a rotary motion of a shaft 75, comprise a beam 77, links 78<a>, 79a, pivoted to the beam and to pins 80, 81, on crank discs 80<a>, 81a. Further crank discs 82a, 83<a>, on shafts 80<b>, 81b, are coupled by a link 84. The centre of this link is connected to a pin 86 on a disc 87 fixed to the shaft 75. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes an internal-combustion engine having oscillating vanes 7 fixed to a hub 8 on a shaft 14 which drives a power shaft 19 through a connecting rod 18, or a combination of links and gear wheels. Cams 22, 21, which control each pair of inlet and exhaust valves 23, 24, are driven by chain and sprocket gear 29, 29<a> or by rocker arms off the driven shaft. Cooling water flows through the hollow shaft 14 to inside the vanes 7 which contain baffles 41, and also through the casing, abutments, and hub. The vanes may be secured to the hub 8 by screws 48, and to the stub shafts 14 by bolts 51. Spring-pressed packing bars 15, 16, 17 are provided. In a further arrangement, a rocking lever on the vane shaft has two links pivoted to the ends of the lever, the outer ends of the links being pivoted to gear wheels. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
