[Class 50.] Firelighters are made up of assembled plates of saturated pressed material having air holes 'and interengaging slots, in the form of a number of vertical plates surmounted by a transverse plate so that when fuel is heaped on the lighter air spaces are formed by the side of the vertical plates. Firelighters, as shown in Fig. 3, are made up from two slabs of pressed material, one slab, Fig. 1, comprising the vertical plates h, f of three firelighters to be separated at notched lines e, and the other three top plates k. The vertical plates interengage at slots d. The top plate is retained in position by a projection g on plate h. A modified construction comprises four slotted vertical plates and a rectangular top plate with grid-like slots.
