[Class 100 (i).] Perforating-apparatus.-In devices mounted in a forme for perforating sheets at the same time as they are printed in cylinder printing- machines, each perforating blade arranged parallel to the cylinder is associated with two sets of contiguous transverse blades in such a manner that the parallel blade is moved into operative position when it is beneath the cylinder, and, simultaneously the transverse blades between the cylinder and the inking rollers will be moved in operative position while the transverse blades situated at the opposite side of the cylinder and parallel blade are retracted from the operative position. Cam-strips 9, 14 are provided for actuating the parallel and transverse perforating-blades respectively, and have cam recesses 19 engaging lugs 20 on the blades so that endwise movement of the strips causes the the blades to be moved to operative position against the action of springs 17. An operating device 5 constructed as described in Specification 416,629 is mounted on the forme adjacent to each strip 9 and is operated by the cylinder as it passes thereunder to move the strip 9 endwise and thus actuate the parallel blade. During this movement, a square edge 11 on the strip 9 engages an inclined edge 15 of one transverse cam-strip 14 and moves it back to inoperative position and an inclined edge 12 on the strip 9 engages a square edge 16 on the opposite strip 14 to move it to operative position. An extension 10 of the strip 9 transmits the movement to further parallel cam strips. Both edges 11, 12 may be of the same shape, the edges 15, 16 being shaped to correspond.
