658,071. Perforating-machines. THOMSEN, C., and FUNCKE, E. Aug. 3, 1949, No. 20213. [Class 31 (ii)] A perforating apparatus of the type used on printing presses, comprising series of perforators provided with perforating blades and capable of being keyed together and fixed in a printing forme in alignment or at right angles, is characterized in that a cam strip for each perforating blade 2, Fig. 1, is provided with a return spring 15, adapted to act in addition to any assistance derived from the return springs 6 of the blade, for the purpose of ensuring return of the blade from its operative position. The series of perforating blades is actuated by a control device 17 having a lever 171 which when depressed by the impression cylinder or platen operates sliding cam strips 9 which push the blades 2 upwardly. In a modification, Fig. 10, cams 22<SP>1</SP> of a line of perforators actuate cams 22<SP>11</SP> of a second line through the medium of a bell-crank lever 33 pivoted at 34.
