[Classes 20 (iii) and 137.] A vehicle window of the kind which is vertically adjustable in the door or side of a vehicle is also movable horizontally to provide one or more ventilating openings x at the front or back edge of the panel, Fig. 4. The horizontal movement may be effected by a hand-operated pinion 4 and a rack 3<a> on the bottom rail of the sash. The pinion is normally out of the plane of the panel under spring action, as shown in Fig. 2b. The verticalmovement regulator which may be of the kind comprising twin levers, Fig. 5, may be adapted to give the horizontal movement also by a continuation of the closing vertical movement, the stud 8b of lever 8<a> engaging the end of the slot 8<c> in the bottom rail. A trip catch to hold the window in horizontally adjusted positions may be provided. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a spring-pressed latch 11, Fig. 6 (Cancelled), on the rail 10 to hold the stud 8<b> when the panel is in the ventilation position and the latch is released during the initial opening movement of the panel by an incline on the opposite end engaged by the lifting stud 9b of the second lever. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
