Abstract

The sliding bolt (6) fastener is operated by pivoting a hand-lever (16) and is for use on double windows. The two window-lights (2, 4) are side-hung. One light (2) can additionally be pivoted to a limited extent about its lower horizontal edge and the free vertical edges of the lights may fasten together when closed. The bolt (6) is mounted on the free vertical edge of one light (4) and slides to enter a channel (30) on the sill (7). The bolt (6) is set beneath a mounting plate (5) which also locates the lever (16) and a raised stop (20). The lever (16) pivots about an axis which is parallel to the major window plane and has a projecting rib (17) which engages a similar projection (19) from the stop.
