Abstract

1,080,832. Sliding windows. BECLAWAT WINDOWS (ARCHITECTURAL) Ltd. Feb. 12, 1965 [Feb. 18, 1964; June 30, 1964], Nos. 6751/64 and 26939/64. Heading E1J. In a horizontally sliding window in which one panel 10 in opening, runs on a horizontal lower guide 11 on the outer or weather side of a second panel 12 [fixed or slidable) on a guide 14, a cover strip 31 is pivotally secured :o the second panel 12 is at 30 to cover the region between the guide 11 and the panel 12 and is removable automatically, as shown, or manually by providing a flap with a beaded edge rotatable in a slot in the second sash to enable relative sliding movement of the sashes. In the automatic case shown, the flexible flap 30 is secured at its end in a groove 31 in the second sash, and by means of a ramp or cam at the end of the groove 35 is directed into the groove as indicated at 29 as the two sashes move relatively towards each other. In the case of a manually operated pivoted sash, the coverstrip is turned by means of a cranked handle into a recessed side of the sash so that the two sashes can pass relatively to each other, the handle having a locking member operative in two extreme positions of the handle and cover. The groove occupied by the pivot beading may house a liner strip which mounts the pivot beading.
