Abstract

418,843. Window holders. DUTFIELD, A. E., The Cottage, Fayland Avenue, Streatham Park, London. June 28, 1933, No. 18442. [Class 44.] A sliding window is held in adjusted position by a pawl 1 carried by the window 3 and engaging a rack 5 in the guide channel 6, and is held against rattling by a spring-plunger 9 working in an angularly disposed socket 10 carried by the window and provided with a triangular head 8 bearing against the channel wall. Pivoted to pawl 1 is a depending rod 12 guided in a lug 15. When pawl 1 is rocked out of engagement with the rack rod 12 is depressed and its lower end engages and depresses head 8 of the plunger to release it. The pawl 1 is urged into engagement with the rack by a compression spring 17 between the guide 15 and a lug 20 on rod 12. Spring 17, and spring 11 of plunger 9, are housed in telescopic tubular members. Two of the above arrangements are provided, one at each side of the window, and the pawls are mounted on a transverse shaft 2 disposed across the top edge of the window in a casing 4, and operated by a centrally disposed thumb-piece, not shown.
