Abstract
418,842. Discharge nozzles for lubricators. BRETTELL, F. G., 14, High Holborn, London.-(Lubrication Corporation ; 910, South Michigan Avenue, Chicago, U.S.A.) June 27, 1933, No. 18290. [Class 99 (i).] In a lubricator discharge nozzle comprising a conduit A having an orifice B adapted to make a metal to metal sealing engagement with the spherical head 26 of a nipple N on the part to be lubricated, the orifice is disposed in a plane inclined to the axis of the nozzle and is of such a size as to encompass a substantial portion of the nipple head. The nozzle may be slidably mounted in a housing 54, Fig. 3, connected to the lubricant supply pipe 63, the supply of lubricant being controlled by a spring-pressed ball valve 59. The latter seats normally on an internal shoulder 61 of the housing but is unseated by the inner end 53 of the conduit upon relative movement of the conduit and housing. The inner end 53 of the conduit is provided with a cross-bore 58 for the passage of lubricant. In a modification, Fig. 1, the conduit A is mounted in a tubular member 14 provided with clamping jaws C between which and the orifice B the nipple N is adapted to be clamped by relative movement of the said tubular member and conduit, this movement being effected by a threaded sleeve D rotatably mounted on the member 14 and in screwthreaded engagement with an extension 3 of the conduit. Rotation of the two parts is prevented by a stud 16 and friction collets 15 on the tabular member engaging a slot 17 in and the exterior of the conduit respectively.
