Abstract

418,584. Cam - actuated pumps. GREENAWAY, F. G.., 34, Shirehall Park, Hendon, Middlesex, and WELDING, G. L., 1, The Pleasance, Dunstable, Bedfordshire. March 27, 1933, No. 9193. [Class 102 (i).] A pump or motor, applicable for hydraulic transmission of power, comprises a stationary cylinder block having inclined bores in which plungers F are reciprocated by pins C<2> carried by a wobbler C. The latter is mounted in a gimbal ring D and receives an oscillating movement from a sleeve B mounted on a pivot A<1> on the driving shaft, ball bearings being interposed between the sleeve B and the wobbler C. The sleeve B carries weights B<1>, and, during rotation, assumes an inclined position, which varies with the speed, thus varying the stroke of the plungers F. The pins C may be connected to the plungers by spherical joints, or, as shown, may be recessed to receive pads C<3>, which slide in opposite directions in slots in the ends of the plungers. The shaft A carries a distributing valve G formed with an inlet passage G<4> and a discharge passage G<2>. The passages are divided by partitions, which are curved to assist the fluid flow. Balancing fluid is admitted to the back of the valve by grooves G<3x>.
