Abstract
418,546. Copy-holders. DODDS, N., 1516, 44th Street, N.W., Washington, U.S.A. Dec. 19, 1933, No. 35776. [Class 100 (iii).] A copy-holder comprises a scroll-shaped paper-retainer 14, which is pivotally mounted at its upper edge on a supporting casing 10, so that it can be tilted up to give access to the parts beneath. The scroll is open at both ends, so as to receive a sheet of any width. The top of the sheet passes over a substantially vertical extension 14<a> of the scroll, on which it is held down by a pivoted weighted member 19. The top edge of the member 19 serves as a line-indicator, and the member can be turned back to form a funnel-shaped entrance for the sheet. The paper is fed by a roller 25 carrying indiarubber rings, which project through apertures in the part 14<a> of the scroll, so that the paper is pressed against them by the member 19. The rings are held in grooves formed in the surface of the roller, which is provided with conical ends to facilitate the application of the rings. The roller is braked by a spring 41, and is rotated by a ratchet-wheel and a pawl 27, which is pivoted at its lower end to a lever 33 provided with a finger-piece 35. The pawl is drawn rearwards by a spring 36, so as to bear against the ratchet-wheel. The stroke of the lever 23 can be varied by means of a rotatable cam 37 having three steps, so as to adjust the feed for single, double, or treble spaced lines.
