Abstract
418,489. Refrigerator vessels. MORRIS HEATING APPLIANCES, Ltd., 59, New Oxford Street, and MERCER, A. A., 64, Sinclair Road, West Kensington, both in London. March 28, 1934, No. 9741. [Class 66.] A refrigerator of the type having a wetted porous outside surface is formed by casting around an inner metal or other non-porous vessel 1 a layer of porous material such as a cement composed of six parts of washed coke breeze dust and one part of Portland cement. Alternatively a pre-cast outer porous vessel may be secured to the inner vessel by cement of similar character. Where the inner vessel is of glass it is preferably sandblasted on the exterior, and strands of wire may be secured around it to reinforce it and bind the covering. The walls are preferably ribbed as at 5 to increase the evaporative surface. The lid 2 may be similarly formed, and provided with a depression 6 for water and radial grooves 7 to lead the water from the depression to the outer wall.
