Abstract

412,171. Stoves. BERRY, A. F., Welling- ton House, Strand, London. Dec. 13, 1932, No. 35354. [Class 126.] The casing of a cooking oven is constructed from cellular non-conductive material such as Portland or like cement having a surface comprising a film of even close grain composed of the same material. A mixture a of Portland cement and gas forming material such as aluminium with water, with or without crushed burnt clay, finely divided asbestos, granulated cork or pumice stone is charged into a mould b-c the surfaces next to the mould forming a close grained film, which condition is facilitated by slowly withdrawing the inner part of the mould c before the mixture has set, or lining the mould with paper. The mould may be previously lined with pre-formed cellular material. The outer surface of the chamber may be protected by a jacket of cement or asbestos board integral or not with the cellular material. The cellular material may be hardened by treating it with a solution of magnesium-silico-fluoride or firstly with alkaline silicate followed by calcium chloride solution.
