Abstract
418,183. Night latches. KAYE, A. W., and KAYE & SONS, Ltd., J., South Accommodation Road, Hunslet, Leeds. April 24, 1934, No. 12284. [Class 44.] In a rim night latch, the key-operated mechanism, which consists of a slide controlled by spring-pressed gated levers and provided with a projection A<5> to co-operate with a projection B<4> on the latch bolt B<1>, is mounted in a cylindrical casing A fixed in a recess D<1> in the door D and covered by the latch casing B. The latch, which is withdrawn against a spring B<7> by a two-armed follower B<9> co-operating with projections B<10>, has two projections B<4> so that it is suitable for doors of either hand. A vertical slide B<3> may be provided to engage with recesses B<6> to hold the latch in shot or retracted position. In a modified form, the projections B<4> are arranged behind the follower B<9> so that the casing A may be fitted further from the edge of the door.
