[Class 38 (ii).] A change of the moment of ignition in a grid control] ed rectifier to effect regulation is obtained by changing the wave form of the grid voltage. The grid voltage comprises a component of fundamental frequency obtained from a transformer 6 on which is superimposed a third harmonic voltage obtained from a potentiometer 10 supplied from the open-delta secondary of a three phase transformer 13. The magnitude and phase-position of this harmonic can be varied by adjusting the tapping 11 on the potentiometer.
