Abstract
417,476. Thermionic valve caps and holders. M-O VALVE CO., Ltd., Marconi House, Strand, London, EDEN, C. G., and SMITHELLS, C. J., c/o General Electric Co., Wembley, Middlesex. June 13, 1933, No. 16826. [Class 39 (i).] A valve cap comprises a cylinder 1 of moulded insulating-material provided with a shoulder 2. Four contacts 3 are spaced unequally around the cylinder and are attached thereto by end strips, bent at their upper ends 5 into slits in the material and at their lower ends 4 over the rim. The lower ends have slots to receive the connecting wires to the electrodes within the valve and one strip is extended upwards to form a connection 6 for a siren connected to the cathode. The socket to receive this cap comprises contact bars 8 spaced apart by two parallel insulating-plates. The upper ends of the bars are bent over and an insulating cover plate (not shown) is placed over these ends. The cap contacts may be springy or, as shown, leaf springs 11 are formed on each contact bar by bending over its end. Specifications 247,937 and 274,431, [both in Class 39 (i)], are referred to.
