Abstract

A film base suitable for use in photography is prepared in the following manner. Matured brown alga is dissolved in alkali solution, filtered, precipitated with dilute acid, dried, dissolved in ammonia solution and again dried. This forms a starting material which is acetylated by means of acetic anhydride, acetic acid, zinc chloride, and furfurol until it becomes soluble in acetone. The product is washed with water, dried, dissolved in a solvent consisting of a ketone, alcohol, ether, and benzol, and formed into a film in any known film-forming apparatus.ALSO:A film base suitable for use in photography is prepared in the following manner.
