Abstract

416,068. Apparatus for making trouser waistbands &c. BREGMAN, M., 37A, Camp Road, Leeds. March 8, 1933, No. 6978. [Class 141.] In the manufacture of trouser waistbands and the like in which two strips of fabric corresponding to the facing material and lining are sewn together and then folded longitudinally and pressed before being wound up in coil form, all the various operations are carried out in a continuous operation. As shown, the two strips of fabric are fed in slightly overlapped relation from spools B<1>, B<2>, laterally adjustable, to a guide box S just prior to being sewn by the sewing apparatus indicated broken away in the drawing. The sewn together strips thereupon pass between a roller with a conical enlargement E and a tapered roller D. These rollers bend the strip before passing between a roller G having a flanged end g and an upper roller not shown. A folding plate H is rectangular in section at its entrance and U-shaped at its exit so that the strip is gradually folded over on itself before passing between pairs of plates 1<1>, 1<2> shaped to fold the fabric band exactly in the centre. The band next passes into the nip of pressing rollers K from which it passes by a bridge to a winding spindle V. The spindle V and bridge are pivoted.
