Abstract
415,354. Compressor crank shafts. FREUNDLICH, E. A., 24, Sonderbergstrasse, Oberkassel, D³sseldorf, Germany. April 12, 1934, No. 11074. Convention date, April 13, 1933. [Class 8 (i).] To facilitate access to the stuffing-box, the crank shaft of a refrigerating or other compressor extends through a detachable stuffing- box 11, and is divided between the stuffing-box and the outer bearing 10 into two parts separated by a gap, these parts being detachably united, e.g. by a sleeve coupling 18 or by a divided flywheel. The stuffing-box may comprise a cap 12 enclosing a metal slip-ring 14 pressed by a coiled spring against the cap.
