Abstract

527,294. Shaft couplings. WOLF & CO., Ltd., S., and NICHOLSON, S. G. March 28, 1939, No. 9654. [Class 80 (ii)] In a coupling for shafts, particularly for driving a hand grinder, the ends of the shafts 5, 6 have each a helix 8 machined thereon over which a closely coiled spring 13 is threaded. The shaft 5 has a cylindrical recess 9 formed therein into which is fitted a bronze bush 10 adapted to receive a spigot 12 on the shaft 6 thus preserving axial alignment of the shafts. A felt pad 11 in the recess 9 assists lubrication.
