Abstract

244,218. Fletcher, R. W. J. Oct. 14, 1924. Addition to 197,396. Driving machines; drilling; screws, inserting.-In friction gearing for machine tools and other purposes as described in the parent Specification. comprising a conical sunroller 16, conical planet-rollers 22 loosely mounted in a cage 21 and a conical surface 18 adapted to co-operate with the planet-rollers, the recesses 24 which receive the integral journals 23 of the rollers 22 have the opposite faces flat and parallel so as to confine the movements of the journals to a radial direction. A spring 31 is also provided for forcing the rollers out of engagement when the tool is withdrawn from the work, a nut 250 attached to the tool-holder then making contact with the end wall of the casing 33 to stop rotation of the tool. The sun-roller 16 carries a split spindle 10 for the attachment of a flexible or rigid shaft.
