534,348. Toothed gearing. ANDREW, H. J. Feb. 1, 1940, No. 1970. [Class 80 (i)] [Also in Group XXII] An appliance described as an attachment but which may form an integral part of a machine, imparts a drive to a tap or screwing die holder with short periodic reversals of rotation to break up the chips. The casing c that serves as an oil bath for the gears, is held against rotation by a fitting d. A driving spindle a carries a gear k meshing with a wheel j on a countershaft h in a planet cage i. A wheel f on the shaft h meshes with a fixed sun wheel e. A double eccentric or elliptical gear n, o loose on the shaft h meshes with corresponding wheels m, p the former integral with the wheel k and the latter driving the holder b. Instead of meshing with the sun wheel e the wheel f may be geared through speed reducing gearing with an annular wheel on the casing c. According to the Provisional Specification the wheel p may drive the tool holder through means for reversing the wheel drive for backing out the tap.
