[Also in Division D1J In a spinning frame having a plurality of drafting rolls a planetary gearing is used as part of a gearing assembly causing a back drafting roll to rotate at a slower speed than a front drafting roll, said gearing having internal and external sun gears and at least one planet gear between and meshing with both sun gears, one of the sun gears being held against rotation and the other being in the drive between said front and back rolls. In Fig. 3 the internal sun gear 25 is held stationary by a flattened end 33 of its shaft fitting in a slot 34 in an arm 13. The external sun gear 27 is mounted within a crown gear 12. Four planetary gears 26 that extend between and mesh with the internal and external sun gears 25, 27 are mounted on a plate 36 carrying a draft change gear 17. The crown gear 12 meshes with a pinion on the front drafting roll and the draft change gear 17 meshes with a pinion on the back drafting roll. In Fig. 4, the internal sun gear 41 is mounted within and carried by the crown gear 12 and the external sun gear 46 is held rigid by a stationary part of the drafting frame. Four planetary gears 45 that extend between and mesh with the internal and external sun gears 41, 46 are mounted on a plate 44 rigid with a shaft 43. The shaft 43 is splined to carry a draft change gear similar to the gear 17 in Fig. 3. The interior of each assembly may be filled with a solid lubricant via greasing nipples 50 leading to apertures 51.
