430,713. Shaft-collars ; locating gearwheels on shafts. HERBERT, SIR A., LLOYD, A. H., and FIELDING, W. S., c/o Herbert, Ltd., Canal Road, Edgwick, Coventry. Jan. 14, 1935, No. 1201. [Class 80 (ii)] A gear-wheel or other element is endwise located against a shoulder on a shaft 12, to which it is splined, by a collar 19, having a catch 22, pivoted between its ends, and pressed by a spring-plunger 24 into a circumferential groove 16 in the reduced cylindrical end of the shaft. The catch is released by finger-pressure, towards the shaft, on an extension 25, centrifugal force on which assists the spring-plunger. The collar may be slidably keyed to the shaft by a key 27.
