Abstract
415,291. Gilled tubes for heatexchangers. AMERICAN RADIATOR CO., 40, West 40th Street, New York, U.S.A.- (Assignees of Cornell, E. S. ; 40, West 40th Street, New York, U.S.A.) Nov. 24, 1933, No. 32859. Convention date, Nov. 29, 1932. [Class 64 (iii).] Finned heatexchange tubes for radiators, refrigerating apparatus, &c., are formed of flanged, corrugated, tubular elements 18, Fig. 3. Each of the elements is stamped from a metal sheet by dies 36, 37, Fig. 9, and corrugated and formed with a skirt 27, Fig. 10, by internal and external rollers 39, 45. The elements are then assembled in upper and lower two-part dies 40, 41, Fig. 14, and the skirt portions are pressed by an expandible roller 43, Fig. 12, into engagement with the corrugations of adjacent elements. Finally, a smoothing mandrel 44, Fig. 13, is passed through the tube.
