Abstract
353,251. Gilled tubes for heat exchangers. GRISCOM-RUSSELL CO., 285, Madison Avenue, New York, U.S.A.- (Assignees of Jones, R. C. and Colston, R.; 285, Madison Avenue, New York, U.S.A.) July 23, 1930, No. 22252. Convention date, Aug. 1, 1929. [Class 64 (iii).] Heat exchanger tubes are provided with fins by inserting strips of metal in longitudinal grooves 23 on the surfaces of the tubes and pressing on the metal of the tubes on each side of a groove to cause the .metal to grip the strips. The width of the fins may be adjusted to give a square cross section so that a number of tubes may be built up to form a rectangle as shown in Fig. 14. The fins may also be applied to a rectangular tube as shown in Fig. 13.
