Abstract
<PICT:0415088/III/1> Oils rich in vitamin are obtained by subjecting liver oils containing vitamin to short path distillation under a vacuum of 0,01--0,0001 mm. of mercury. The evaporation is carried out in a series of film evaporators in which a condensing surface is provided at a distance not exceeding 0,5--1 inch from the evaporative surface. The oil is delivered through a valve 14 into a jacketted chamber 13 filled with nitrogen where the oil is degassed by connecting the chamber to a vacuum pump. The oil then flows through a seal 18 and spreads over the surface of a cylinder 19 heated internally by hot vapours or electrically, and surrounded by a condensing surface 22 cooled by liquid circulating through a jacket 30. The oil passes off through a seal pipe to one or more similar evaporators and is finally collected in the vessel 29. The air in the apparatus may be deplaced by an inert gas, e.g., nitrogen or helium. The liver oil may first be subjected to saponification alcoholysis, and/or irradiation.ALSO:Oils rich in vitamin are obtained by subjecting liver oils containing vitamin to short path distillation <PICT:0415088/IV/1> under a vacuum of 0,01--0,0001 mm. of mercury.
