415,001. Spring balances. MAYER, G., Rue Port-Franc, Lausanne, and MAYER, T., 32, Marktgasse, Berne, both in Switzerland. April 9, 1934, No. 10708. Convention date, March 1. [Class 143.] In a kitchen balance of the spring type wherein the pan support 8 is pivotally mounted on two parallel beams 4 arranged one above the other and fulcrumed on standards 3, at least one of the beams bears with one end 13 on a flat weighing spring 12 rigidly secured at its other end above the fulcrums, and means are provided in connection with one of the beams for actuating an indicating drum 19. As shown, a flat spring 12 is provided for each beam. The springs are secured to rotatable blocks 11 which may be adjusted by screws 15 to set the zero of the indicating drum which is actuated by a toothed extension 17 of the lower beam engaging a pinion on the drum spindle. The pinion is urged towards its actuating teeth by a spring 22. The flat springs 12 are arranged to come into operation successively so that the upper spring controls the first revolution of the drum to indicate up to one unit, after which the lower spring also comes into operation to indicate multiple units during the second revolution of the drum.
