Abstract

413,657. Drying-machines for paper &c. DIXON, W. H., West Marsh Mills, Grimsby. Nov. 15, 1932, No. 32334. [Class 96.] In a drying-machine wherein paper, cardboard, pulpboard, &c. x being dried forms pockets with the drying cylinders 1, 2, 3, 4 &c., vapour-laden air is withdrawn through perforated pipes &c. 7 heated by steam, hot air, or other fluid, electric or other means, solely to maintain the temperature of the pipe 7 above that of the atmosphere within the pocket and thus prevent condensation of moisture thereon. Each pipe 7 is connected at one end to a suction pipe and at the other may have a detachable closure. A plate 11 welded &c. to a steam-pipe 12 is clamped at 14 &c. to the pipe 7 a manuallyoperated valve &c. allowing discharge of condensate. There may be two pipes 7, at opposite sides, in each pocket. The pipes 7 may be carried on brackets or in bearings in the machine frame.
