Abstract
412,994. Door latches and locks. RAMSELL, H. G., Alverley, York Gardens, Wolverhampton. Jan. 7, 1933, No. 628. [Class 44.] A door lock or latch has a pull operating handle 41 pivoted on an axis parallel to the plane of the bolt, the handle being capable of being reversed on the pivot 39 and co-operating in either position with the follower so that the lock may readily be adapted for right or left hand doors. The handle has a short inner arm 35 engaging the follower 31 to withdraw the bolt 25 and, on continued pulling, opens the door. The follower 31 is a symmetrical member of sector shape pivoted on a pin 32 and has the radial edges flanged for engagement by the handle arm 35 while end tips 33 engage the foot plate 30 of the bolt. The end of the arm 35 is hardened or fitted with a ball. The handle may be made by hot stamping, pressing from strip, or moulded in material such as that known under the Registered Trade Mark " Bakelite."
