Abstract

411,999. Tubular frame constructions. SENTINEL WAGGON WORKS, Ltd., and ALLEY, S. E., 20, Iddlesleigh House, Caxton Street, Tothill Street, London. March 20, 1933, No. 8417. [Class 79 (iv).] A vehicle chassis or frame is constructed by expanding or welding at each junction the ends of a number of transverse tubular members into both sides of the tubular longitudinal members of the frame, each joint preferably being strengthened, as shown in Fig. 6, by means of a ferrule 20 surrounding the end of the transverse member 18 and tapering at its inner end 22, and the opening in the longitudinal member 10 for the reception of the ferrule preferably being flanged as at 21. In the construction shown, a frame with longitudinal members 10 stamped or cast into a hollow rectangular form is provided with transverse tubular members 12-17 arranged in pairs, two pairs 12, 13 being located near the ends of the frame and the other two pairs 14, 15 and 16, 17 being disposed near the centre thereof.
