Abstract

411,994. Controlling delivery of thread from bobbins. GRIBOJEDOFF, N., 14, Rue de Tilsitt, Paris. March 13, 1933, Nos. 7604 and 7605. Convention dates, March 11, 1932 and March 29, 1932. [Class 120 (ii).] In apparatus for unwinding thread from bobbins, wherein a flyer rotates freely about the axis of a bobbin and the thread passes from the bobbin through the flyer eye and a guide arranged in line with the axis of the bobbin to a drawing-off device, the bobbin holder 3 and the flyer 8, Fig. 1, are arranged so that they rotate freely and independently of each other in opposite directions under the pull of the thread. To facilitate starting a resilient auxiliary guide 14 is provided, the thread being initially passed, as shown in dotted lines, from the eye 10 of the flyer and over the guide 14, which yields to prevent any abnormal tension when starting. When, during its rotation, the eye 10 passes the guide 14, the thread slips off the guide and automatically assumes the normal path shown in full lines. Preferably a brake for the unwinding bobbin is provided, as shown in Fig. 2, two flyer arms 22 being provided and connected to a brake disc 23 under control of a spring 24 so that during normal winding the brake is held inoperative but is applied in the event of thread breakage. The spring 24 is so connected to a collar 25 fixed to the spindle, and to the brake disc 23 that during braking the bobbin tends to unwind it and thus to increase the braking effort.
