Abstract

Flexible sheeting for use as a lining for tanks, bridges and subways or as a dampcourse comprises surface layers of bituminous composition and intermediate layers of asbestos felt or fabric impregnated with bitumen. Sheets of thin lead or bitumen or both may be interposed between the asbestos sheets. Preferably residual asphalt from petroleum distillation having a melting-point of 95-100 DEG F. is used to impregnate the asbestos and the surface layer comprises oxidized asphalt having a melting-point of 185 DEG F. blended with 5 per cent of residual asphalt. The bituminous materials may contain inorganic fibrous materials such as asbestos. To prevent sticking, the sheets may be dusted with talcum.
