Abstract
411,657. Miners' &c. safety lamps. HAIL WOOD, E. A., Beacon House, Texas Street, Morley, near Leeds. April 28, 1933, No. 12351. [Classes 75 (i) and 75 (iv).] In a miners' or like safety lamp a fitting is provided in connection with the burner dome whereby air can pass from the dome up through the fitting and be distributed towards the upper part of the gauzes to cool them. The invention is particularly applicable to the type of lamp described in Specification 405,622. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the dome D is provided behind the flame gap D<1> with a substantially semi-circular opening G over which is fitted a similarly shaped tube T having a top T<1> provided with upper and/or peripheral openings T'. The tube T may be telescopic and the top T<1> may be annular to pass round a chimney or gauze. In the form shown in Fig. 4, the lower part T<4> of the tube T is annular and the dome D is formed with a number of perforations G<1>.
