411,632. Vehicle wheels. HIGBEE, J. F., 481, Beaufait Avenue, Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A., and GRIGGS, S. A., Walkerville, Ontario, Canada. March 27, 1933, No. 9153. [Class 144 (i).] Single or twin wheels are mounted on an axle-fitment which allows swinging movement of the wheels about a horizontal axis so that these, under load, will assume a position normal to the road surface, irrespective of the road-camber. In the construction shown, in Fig. 1 and 3, the axle 10 is formed with an enlarged end 12 having spherical surfaces 18, 20 complementary to the cupped portion of a sleeve 22 on which a hub 53 is mounted through roller bearings 56, 58. The sleeve 22 is fitted with bushes 28, 30 carried by a spindle 38 journalled near the end of the axle. Fig. 4 shows a modification in which, to permit independent rotation of the twin wheels, the outer wheel is mounted on a step 80 of the hub 68.
