Abstract

458,527. Vehicle spring-suspensions; axles. GOODWIN, J. J., 12, Victoria Drive, Llandudno Junction, Carnarvonshire. Oct. 17, 1935, No. 28693. [Class 108 (ii)] In a vehicle spring independent wheel suspension the stub axle assembly 3 is mounted on the usual spring 8 and its lower end is stayed from the chassis by a torque rod 12 whilst its upper end is guided by a pin-and-slot arrangement from the chassis 5. As shown the spring 8 is secured to a part 4 of the stub axle assembly 3 by means of plate 6 and U-bolts 7. To the plate 6 and a bracket 13 on the chassis 5 is pivoted a longitudinal torque rod 12. The upper part of the stub axle assembly 3 is provided with a pair of inwardly projecting arms 14 between which a pin or roller 15 is mounted which pin rides in a slot 16 formed in a bracket 17 secured to the chassis 5. In place of the chassis members 5, longitudinal metal plates may be provided adapted to be secured to the wooden members of the vehicle body.
