Abstract

410,998. Oars. MACDOUGALL, W. G., 89, Fort Street, Fairhaven, Massachusetts, U.S.A. Aug. 29, 1933, No. 23936. [Class 114.] A combined oar and oarlock is formed with the oar in three portions of which the centre portion is slidably and rotatably secured to the oarlock pin. An oarlock pin 30 is pivotally secured to a block 27 slidably mounted upon a pin 24 carried by the central tubular portion 14 of the oar unit. The tubular portion at its outer end carries the root 10 of the blade portion of the oar 13, the pin 15 being used to secure the two parts. The handle portion 12 of the oar also has a root that slides into the end of the tube 14 which is split at 16 and a clamping screw 18 is provided. In order that the hand portion will not turn relatively to the central portion it has a projecting tongue 21 engaging a recess 20 in a division plate 19 of the central member 14.
