Abstract

410,570. Cut-outs. SYKES & DYSON, Ltd., SYKES, P., and COOPER, W., Queen's Mill Road, Huddersfield. Feb. 7, 1933, No. 3664. [Class 38 (i).] In a cut-out of the type in which the fusible element is carried by a bridge piece and is enclosed in a tube of asbestos or the like the base is provided with a centrally arranged expansion chamber which is in communication with the atmosphere but is isolated from the terminal chambers by the asbestos &c. tube. As shown, the selfcentring terminal members b, c are set to one side of the base which is provided at the other side with a groove a<6> between which and a corresponding groove in the bridge piece the asbestos tube the lower part of which is cut away at j<1> fits tightly. Centrally of the groove the base is provided with an expansion chamber a<5> communicating with the atmosphere through vents a<7> which release the explosion gases clear of wires o for securing a cover m. The latter is provided with projectors which snap past the end of the bolt n to which the wires o are secured. The cover may be held by a strap instead of by wires. The bridge member may be adapted to take a cartridge fuse.
