Abstract

508,959. Fusible cut-outs. HOPE, V. Jan. 7, 1938, No. 491. [Class 38 (i)] Each end cap of a cartridge fuse comprises a connecting cover 26 over which fits a terminal cover 29. The covers are spaced to form an expansion chamber 32 communicating with the interior of the fuse body through an opening 33 or openings formed in the connecting cover. Each of the openings is fitted with closing means, such as a plug 34, which normally serves to retain the powder in the fuse body but yields when the pressure exceeds a predetermined value. The construction of the particular fuse described is identical with that described in Specification 493,100. The fuses can be arranged in series by attaching together adjacent connecting covers by means of a connecting ring 44, Fig. 14.
